About this event

The prospect of Irish unification is now more discussed than at any point since partition in 1921. Join Sam McBride and Fintan O'Toole with chair Sarah Carey as they debate the strongest arguments for and against a united Ireland.

What do the words 'united Ireland' even mean? Would it be better for Northern Ireland? Would it improve lives in the Republic of Ireland? And could it be brought about without bloodshed?

The event will set out the facts as they now are, seeking to prompt you to ask questions of both sides, and of yourself.

Sam McBride is the Northern Ireland Editor of the Belfast Telegraph & Sunday Independent. Fintan O’Toole is an author and journalist.

The ARINS project is a collaboration of the Royal Irish Academy and the University of Notre Dame.
